Walking
Late at night
A single street light glows
A noise, the wind?
or something more?
A quickened pace
The sounD
again, footsteps?
A backward glance
A figure lurks just
outside the glow
Running, feet hammering the
asphalt, veering off, into
the trees, surrounded by
silence, panting, a twig
snaps, stumbling blindly, trying
to escape, a loose
rock, floating, for a
moment, then colliding with
the cold, unforgiving earth
A sound,
A figure,
Nothing?
