Tag; You're It
Running through the woods,
Right behind you don’t look back,
Feeling the breath leave your lungs,
Can’t breathe…can’t breathe…
Hiding behind a tree waiting for the kids to pass
Children running screaming
A game of tag becomes a race
Darting, dashing, scurrying, chasing
Laughter bubbling through the trees
Sweat dripping off foreheads and noses
Dinner started half an hour ago
But no one goes home
Too much fun out here
In a world made just for kids
No parent dares to enter
Lost and found
Adults will never be allowed to “find”
You’re “lost” forever in the maze of trees
But you can always be found by any kid who looks
Too slow,
Tag, you’re it.
