namesake
In Hebrew your name means light
and I think both your mother and God
knew that you would
be the light in my eyes;
You are the honey-sweet strength
in my habitually quivering voice.
Since our first night I have
felt a faint tingling
stirring in my fingertips; excitement
that fosters my pomegranate lips
to grow numb.
In Latin my name means pure
and you caused me to betray
my namesake for ever
since the day your light filled my
heart I have thought of
nothing but you loving me.
