One night
Here we go again.
Come in, late at night.
Stay close, holding me tight.
Saying it will last, saying this is real.
He’s drunk, you’re lost. You’ll forget the feeling.
You wake up, he’s gone. Your clothes are still on.
Where has it gone? The innocence. Let it go.
Let him in again tonight. Don’t shut out the world.
Let him in for good, show him what you deserve.
He’s drunk, you’re right. This won’t last.
Telling yourself it’s all right. He won’t remember tonight.
But just for tonight. Can it be real? Can you feel again?
Can we all pretend? Keep pretending, keep lying.
Cover up the pain in your eyes in the morning.
Tonight matters. Let it matter.
Just fall asleep. Close your eyes. He won’t notice.
No one will notice. The empty thoughts, sleepless nights.
But he’s holding you now. You’re happy now. You’re alive now.
You reach for his hand. He’s already gone by then.
Don’t let those tears fall. Keep them in. Let him go.
He’ll be back tonight. You’ll be waiting. Here we go again.
