Kept us together, pulls us apart
There’s a wall that separates who we are today
From who we used to be
And this wall stands between us
Making us forget easily
And this wall, it grows stronger
With every season quietly
Time came in like a hurricane,
And banished everything we built.
Every base and roof, every road and bridge,
All the trees we grew, tall and full of life,
Time ripped out by the roots,
And never gave a reason why.
As life goes on I wonder,
What kept us together,
That now pulls us apart.
Was it a fragile piece of string,
Or was it just
Time.
