This Is Where
#ThisIsWhere the aging hippies pretend
that they are younger
and the world they’ve shaped is brighter
which is not always true
but sometimes when the sun sets
over coral walkways and Spanish moss
you can almost see
an aging utopia
when the world was naive
we buried our dead
and laid flowers upon their graves
but now we build skyscrapers
and call them monuments
to human decency
and the ugly, rundown last bastion of idealism
becomes to a modern beauty
(money)
(buildings so tall you can’t see the sky)
i will remember
