Yellow Road
A long road untraveled
A lone figure stood
Gazing at the entrance
To the mysterious woods.
The figure stood far
Along the yellow road
And took a solitary step
Onto the bent grassy marsh
He bent beneath the undergrowth,
Three more steps he took
Telling me to stay away,
“Don’t tread foot in the woods.”
I now stand where he once stood
And gaze at the yellow road
As the solitary figure
Disappears down the lane
Alone in the woods
