All The Wrong Words
I continuously say all the wrong words
because the right words are always
floating the opposite direction
of my lips
even, sometimes, opposite
my fingers
making it difficult to write
the buried feelings
I have for you
It may take time
before you get to discover the amount
of feet my love has fallen
for you
the emotions that flutter around my heart
as a shield are
unexplainable
So I try to untie
the complexity
of using words
with pictures
but the splattered paint on the canvas
doesn’t help either
I try to dig deeper
and think outside the box
but everything’s still
locked with chains
and the key
got thrown away
But the truth is
the beating soul
within my chest’s
filled with blue ink
melting the paper cocoon
with unspoken
words
I forget to spill
and as the ink
drips
all over my hand
I hope that when
I hold yours with it
somehow
some way
you feel
the fire that blooms
out my chest
and into my eyes
and when I look at you
you feel the warmth
you give my
love
that way I don’t have
to run around uphills
and under the surface
searching for right words
nor
release the wrong ones
because maybe
all it takes
are the breaths
I hold dear
in the moments
that dread the longest
for my love
to be exposed ..
