In Ourselves
The shatter: a million fragments of broken glass
spill out with the potent alcohol,
While we, we are still drunk on the idea
such that ours is great, and no other.
The ignition: the flames spread, licking
at the floors, everything around them
lapping hungrily, they are unprejudiced;
We ourselves die in our own fire,
and we rise again, and we start
again what we cannot finish, and we,
the poor victims of ourselves,
die in ourselves.
