Two Clocks and A Broken Heart
Broken hearts work like broken clocks
You never hear them shatter
You don’t see the rain drops patter
Against the shadows of the mind
Fighting a battle for the heart
Something you know you’ll lose
But you don’t stop until you fall apart
All is lost but in its wake
A glowing fire
Of envy and hate
And pure desire
For the love once possessed
To disappear for good
This hate you now possess
Fills the empty void
It envelops the heart
With ice cold claws
And the clock ticks once more
To close this icy door
But you’ve opened it yourself
And you have a new clock now
Swiftly dismiss our vow
And you never wonder why
Love made the world seem so alive
