Where'd You Go?
On some days the sun may glow as threads of golden lace
Lighting up the muddled sky
But when it reaches down to kiss your skin,
It does nothing to melt the icicles that line your heart as trees that sit on the horizon
And when the wind breathes on your cheek
It stings as a bee you want to cast off
And the smiles you see
Plastered on stranger’s faces
Are seas spanning the universe that you cannot dive into
And picket lines you cannot cross
And gravity that casts its rope that drags you down to Earth
Where did the sunshine go?
