Water Colored Words
She was in love with every word that he said.
They sounded like watercolors,
Dipping out of his mouth were
Beautiful shades of yellow and pink that
Splattered onto her heart,
While keeping time to its constant beating,
Pulsing the colors through each and every one of her
Veins until they had taken control over her body.
But she didn’t care.
His lips were so captivating,
She didn’t notice that she was losing herself.
So she became the painted girl he wanted her to be.
She was the canvas.
And when her veins were so full,
He started to paint her outside,
But instead of the pinks and yellows she saw,
He filled her skin with black and blues and dripping reds.
And no,
This is not what she wanted,
His water colored words were lies.
But she couldn’t escape,
All she could think about was his face,
And she couldn’t understand how something
So beautiful
Could cause her so much pain.
