Change is the only constant
We sang;
"We are young pioneers,
Successors to communism,
Our red scarves flutter
on our chests"
We were certain
we were bringing
a New Life
to china….
and
I felt Like the
Luckiest girl
in the world.
I was
a l w a y s
loved
and
respected.
Ironically
My perception
on the
Cultural Revolution
was limited.
--A thunder storm struck--
"I know what your grandfather was,
He was a --- LANDLORD."
"what's more, her father is a --- RIGHTIST."
I was
a
black whelp.
“You should reflect on your class origin and thoroughly remold your
Ideology. ”
Through my tears I could see everyone staring at me.
I went numb.
Maybe I had a bad class status
but I would have good grades.
Suddenly,
Life was very hard.
..so hard that I could hardily breathe at times.
FATE.
It was real.
It was so unfair.
I was being punished, for something I had not done.
Sometimes..
I had thought of
running away.
--The storm had passed--
I wondered what I'd be doing,
if I had been born into a red family
instead
of a black one.
No matter what I did, and
where I went,
the cultural revolution
followed me..
The wheel of fate was turning.
It had to change,
soon.
