I'm From
I’m from the plastic blow up pool in the back yard
full of hose water cold as ice
I’m from the laughter of a sister with her brothers
I’m from those boxes packed up to start over
and the new wet paint we can’t touch
I’m from the goodbye to a lifelong friend
to hello to new beginnings
I’m from the slam of a backdoor
and the sweet smell of summer
I’m from that one big question
that only has questions as answers
and the only person with answers doesn't exist
so we must fight to find answers
because where I’m from they don’t come easy
