Satin flows easily about her waist
Brushing her ankles lightly
As warm air kisses her cheeks
The air tastes of salt like tears do on dry lips
Or trapped in shut eyes
Her palms clasped at her chin, thin fingers
Locking them in place
And her clear eyes reflect the sparkling blue above.

A sigh parts from half-open cherry lips
That curve ever so slightly
A mind flying free from the rocky ground
That only her feet are confined to
A feeling of rightness deep in her soul
And euphoria, matching the finale of a day
Beaming in all its glory

A perfect calm meets textured sea
In the sky, singing Heaven and Eternity
As late afternoon sun hovers suspended
Upon great masses of cotton
Threaded across the sky
Woven by needles of piercing light
Snagging on stringy air,
Yet heavily sinking, slowly
Back home into sweet waters
Where it will rise once again the next day
Lifting an impenetrable dark.

I was inspired by an image of a woman standing on the seashore at sunset, so I wrote this Ekphrastic poem. I hope you like it!
