Breathe Again
3, 2, 1…CLEAR
*Shock*
That is the sound of technology grappling to save a life
“Charge again”
And that is the sound of a soul sworn to do no harm
In that moment time loses all meaning
Nothing outside of that crowded little room matters
Time stops because the world cannot exist without you
Everything is in slow motion
There is no sound but for the silent roaring of the flat line
I stop breathing when you do
Those briefs seconds feel like an eternity
And in that moment the brightest light I know goes out
And then….
Like a newborn gasping for its first breath
Your chest heaves
The flat line once again begins to rise and fall
My heart starts beating with yours
Forever intertwined
