Please stay
I searched your eyes
finding a place to rest my heavy heart
under the blue covers of cotton.
Relief had covered my body with that sheet
laying over me. Those bones would
shift and shake beneath skin, they were still
as silent as the night.
I searched your eyes in the sky
I only found the black of mine.
The coal of my burning fingertips staining
the skyline.
Here.
The evening of wanting and prayers
which do not come.
A longing of comfort to mend
the torn linen of my arms.
Arms wrapped tightly around
a pillow, stained with electric tears
piercing like the blade of a knife.
My palms unfold like melting wax,
all city lights illuminate with fireflies.
I searched for you
I searched for you
I’m searching for you
