storms
their words
are like a storm
syllables of
thunder and lightning
seared into my brain
beat in my head
over and over
flash
crash
brings me to my knees every time
darkness
a blanket smothering the sky
choking it
the words
beat down on me
i cover my head
curl up into a ball
on the ground
but the storm persists
but
even storms aren’t forever
and eventually
the sun comes out
the blanket is stolen by the
blue of the sky
and i am safe
for now.
