Genetics
Family members
were not
meant to
play a game
of hide
and seek
inside of
your skin,
though that
has been
this life
for the
past seven
years. Now
I am
a burn
victim of
the words
I wanted
to say.
My skin
is tough
and raw,
holes and
holes of
defeat sew
me opento the
pain supplied.
Her words
would cut
me deeper
than the
addiction
I have
been captured by.
pressing the
razor against
my thigh
the blood
turns into
water falls
of flaming roses
I wear
the shame
like it is a
tailored dress,
twirling like a
little girl
through the
sunlight dancing
along her cheeks
. It fits me well
though you could
not tell how its tightness cuts off my
circulation of self.
