downwards spiral
August 21, 2014
Downwards spiral
Anything but up
that is where
we are headed.
Starvation
smiles in my hungry
stomach as
the lies roll off of
my tongue like honey
to her loud
Fire
alarm ears.
The letters I hold
in my throat
form into words
that I know will
calm the worry
Of her gut
punching heartbeat.
Dinner time rolls around
And she questions food.
Asks what I’d like
To eat.
Spinning like
a marry-go-round
Thoughts travel
on a train through my
flesh
Bullets enter
my skin
Over the telephone
Months of pain
throw up out of my mouth.
