Temptations
It was obvious.
From the way he looked at me;
From the way he looked right through me.
So untrue, so faithless.
Guilt that burned in his eyes,
Lids like walls that blocked me out,
Thoughts filled with doubt,
Lips that tasted of lies.
Hand that no longer fit in mine,
"I love you's" that were forced,
Words that bled of deep remorse,
Lipstick stains by his neckline.
Perfume that smelled of jasmine and rose,
Not of my lilac scent,
After all this time we had spent,
How could I have known? I suppose -
It was obvious.
From the way he looked at me;
From the way he looked right through me.
So untrue, so faithless.
