Beautiful Sunshine
I am from Barbie’s and baby dolls,
From putting my little fingers through their hair,
From the hair where I couldn’t dare to resist,
From playing house in a house,
Where Barbie and Ken become spouses.
I am from amusement parks,
From big rollercoasters and roaring people,
How they zoom! Zoom! Down the tracks,
Like Superman at Six Flags,
I’m from the fluffy sugary poofy ball,
That dissolves quickly in my mouth,
From the enjoyment every little kid has after eating their first candy.
I am from New Jersey,
From the nice big house on the corner,
The elephants in the living room standing firm,
From the aroma of Clorox and Windex sprayed all over,
Where the music plays R&B through the radio,
Clap our hands and clash together,
When the soul and funk fills into our bodies,
Where nothing even matters
I am from the nickname of sunshine,
From the smile that shines like a dime,
From the beauty mark that’s mine,
That makes me a beautiful sunshine
