I Am From
I am from the woods; a place where
I was secluded from the busy, noisy surroundings of people.
This place was where I learned about the outside world
and the thrilling possibilities of nature.
I am from dirty knees and scraped legs, to steep hill hikes and extensive bike rides,
to backyard football games and never ending wrestling with my two brothers.
I am from forts made out of branches and shrubs
from the deep depths of the woods.
I am from a place where there was a never ending amount of yard work
on hot humid July days;to a cool refreshing treat of iced lemonade.
I am from a thrillish amount of time spent hiking, steep and slender hills
knowing there was something magnificent in sight each time I went.
I am from a place unlike my peers
where I was secluded from the busy,
noisy where abouts of neighbors, construction,
and hollering dogs.
