My Heart Belongs at Sea

The sand beneath my feet,
The salty scent in the air,
The fresh sea breeze upon my face,
A peaceful soothing reassurance,
The radiant sun,
Its bright beams, warm and welcoming
The icy water rousing my toes,

I try to grasp, take,
Every bit I can,
Savour every moment,
Every second.

I know he's somewhere out there,
My captain,
My sea fairing man.
I took the bait,
He caught my eye,
And along with it,
My heart.

I take my pouch of precious belongings,
Concealed within it:
Dazzling sea shells,
Smothed out stones,
Memories of my beloved.
Our walks,
Our talks,
Our silences.
Our shadows side by side watching the sun go to bed,
Kissing us goodnight with its last rays of light.

Night, darkness comes.
In the lighthouse I watch,
For the little white ship,
Bobbing upon the waves,
For the captain in marine blue.
I guide my beloved home.

I keep my sea shell at my ear,
Ah, home sweet home.
My heart belongs at sea.
