Dreams and Nightmares
As soothing as a mothers voice
Yet as threatening as a thundercloud,
A dream is not quite a dream,
Unless it is a nightmare.
Waking up to only find myself in a graveyard,
I begin to walk through the mist
In search of the unknown, in search of something I cannot quite put my finger on
“Carry on” I say, it is only just a dream.
Looking left and looking right,
not a single human or soul in sight.
As the mist clears and i spy a gate
I could only make out a shadowy figure holding up a sign saying “you have met your fate.”
I say “what is this place? why am i here?”
the figure grins and says “have no fear, you belong here.”
I turn, trying to run as fast as I can,
only to be stopped by the raise of a hand.
I begin to scream and shout,
“Help is anybody there! please!”
I’m losing conscience, my visions going to a blur.
I open my eyes, but wait
I’m in my room?

This poem was based on an actual nightmare that occured to me about a year ago. The one i witnessed was more specific and detailed, but this is just a summary.
