You turned me inside out
and now I’ve lost myself because
I am no longer a naïve looking
white blossom laced with poison -
I blend in, unidentifiable among
the dozens of flowers longing
for water.
The innocent words that slid
from my mouth have
vanished and every day
I wake screaming and cursing
God because you staked all of
your love for me in Him
then vanished.
I’ve started to listen to happy
music and instead of picking
up a book I call up a friend
and I’m not sure why that
scares me but I think
it’s because you changed me
and broke me but somehow
I am happy without you.

To love is to be vulnerable; Triumph is born out of struggle; We notice shadows most when they stand alone in the midst of overwhelming light.
