We Swing
Children on a swing with jealousy a wrought,
Yet it is you by my side I brought.
Oh daisy I hold, do you love me or do you not,
You may deny but it’s still you I sought.
In the wind we sway just by a breeze,
Your fingertips at my waist as if to tease.
The grass around us is thick with dew,
The world is yours to woo.
Our world was nonexistent,
But these memories are so persistent.
Still, there is something I have lost,
Not you, not me, nor our passion abound by frost.
Innocence pure as snow,
When it left I’ll never know.
But you and I, we swing from a tree,
The future is ours to see.
I will not fuss over what is lost,
For today I see no cost.
