Perfect Penny
You said dimes
Where the best there was
All perfect and shiny
I said I was a penny
Rusty covered in muck
Not worth much
You said what about nickels
There round and bigger
Yet not so perfect
I told you
That a nickel was okay
But not spontaneous
A month later
You came home
And said you changed your mind
You said dimes
Are ugly and cold hearted
You called them worthless
I said I was a penny
Rusty still covered in muck
Yet not Worth much
You said to me
If you want I'll clean you up
And give you a shiny face
I shook my head
Still I'll be worth
Nothing but 1¢
You only moved closer
And wiped the muck off
And washed off my rust
I looked in the mirror
And smiled
Yet I still was only worth 1¢
You had cleaned me up
And made me perfectly shiny
You're a special penny you said
I shook my head
Still only worth nothing
I'll forever be a penny
You spoke clearly
You're a quarter in my eyes
Big but shiny and worth more
