Why must beauty be so elusive?
Such a simple thought, just simple party attire…

Weaving through the traffic, slowly pulling into the lot
Eyes peeled sharply, for the closest spot
Piling out of the cool car, plodding across the warm pavement,
Stepping into the building with warm anticipation, breathing in its familiar fragrance,

Will we find what we are looking for? Will we find that coveted piece?
Will it be just right for me?

We begin the search, through rows and racks of treasures
Sequins, lace, silk and ribbons,
We scan, we try, we zip and stretch the seems
But alas, nothing works, dashing away my dreams-

Will we find what we are looking for?  Will we find that coveted piece?
Will it be just right for me?

On to the next local, hopes still high,
Swirling colors and textures, our eyes and hands stroke
Carefully we browse, intent on class,
Lovely and dark, with a bit of daring sass

Will we find what we are looking for?  Will we find that coveted piece?
Will it be just right for me?

Weariness begins to set in, but the search lives on-
We yearn to find the right piece, to fit in society and thrive-

Why must beauty be so elusive?
Such a simple thought, just simple party attire…

Will we find what we are looking for? Will we find that coveted piece?
