A Note
Mother,
I have gone off to the shore
Where the saltwater sways back and forth
Forming waves as heavy as my heart
I have gone where the rivers run steadily
And where the leaves fall silently into the water
Making their way nowhere
I have gone towards the desert
Where the only storm is the red sand blowing
And the little lizard skidding across the dry surface
I have gone off to the fishpond
Where the bull frogs croak loudly
And you hook up a worm; filled with persistence, maybe just another try
I have gone, but I'll be back soon
With another story to tell
Love, your daughter
