Again
You again
Behind every opening door
Every stairwell creak
Every elevator ding
I swear you're there
Behind each street corner
around every hallway bend
You're there and I'm about to be with you
Until I take the turn
check the stairs
open the door
You exist only behind my bated breath
But I'm living for that nervous run-in
With an exchange of two half-smiles that say,
"You again."
Or maybe I'm still waiting
For you to climb the stairs to my hallway
And round that bend
And sneak through my door the way you used to
And come back to bed and say,
"I want you"
Again
