Untitled
I wanted to see the sunrise.
I wanted to pause this frantic life,
That swerves and turns and slips out of control.
This existence where all you seem to be allowed to do is to move forward,
Stop.
And acknowledge that I am alive:
That first the world is cold and dark,
And then a pale light slowly colors the clouds
With its feeble pinks and crimsons.
It lingers.
Just how your eyes,
Linger on the new sky.
Your mind is clear.
Everything seems anew and easier to grasp.
And suddenly,
For a fleeting instant,
You see where you are going.
You may have lost yourself at night,
But you found yourself in the morning:
Dawn is when dreams are born.

Sometimes I get random bursts of inspiration. I wrote this short piece on an airplane as the sun rose over North America.
