Accusations
The gun shots,
The cries,
The lifeless bodies,
Laying in the city of love.
Headlines the next day,
“12 dead”,
“Al-Qaeda takes responsibility”,
The TV switches off.
All hell breaks loose.
“It was the Muslims”,
Do you hear the hatred in their voices?
The anger in their voices?
Its pointed towards us.
The gunmen flee,
We handle the aftermath,
The accusations,
The outrage.
Why are we to blame,
For the actions of a few...
A few ignorant people,
Who only know violence,
People who aren't aware,
Of the power of words.
“Muslim”,
“Terrorist”,
They are married to each other,
So lets give a hand to today's media,
And their narrow minds.
Do you like to be accused,
For things strangers do,
Yes,
We are the same religion,
But we did not make their mistakes,
So why are we the punching bag in this equation?

This poem was written towards the Paris attack, I feel as a whle the Muslim community is blamed for the actions for a few even though the only thing we have in common is our religion.
