A Mother's Shish Kabobs
In my momma’s kitchen,
where the wind whisked ingredients.
Chopping up veggies
and throwing them into the bowl.
The smell of fresh veggies brings me
to a paradise of relaxation.
Zzzip! Zzzip! The blender turns on
Blending and shredding,
with a squirt of lemon juice
and a little vinaigrette
Tasting sweet like my
peach iced tea.
In my momma’s kitchen,
with the music blasting ear to ear,
the sun grilling the well-done steak.
Sitting together with my aunts and uncles
at the Cayman Islands,
with our watery mouths
tasting the delicious
Shish Kabobs.
