Madman with a Box
A big blue box,
just sitting in the deserted alley.
Two windows on each side,
with “Police Box” painted above them.
Just sitting…
in the frigid, dankness, of this London night.
A sign on the door reads,
POLICE TELEPHONE
FREE
FOR USE OF
PUBLIC
ADVANCE & ASSISTANCE
OBTAINABLE IMMEDIATELY
OFFICER AND CARS
RESPOND TO ALL CALLS
PULL TO OPEN
Little known,
this box could do amazing things.
Impossible things.
It could travel through time and space,
save lives.
All with one man,
The Doctor.
The man who fights Zygons, Axons, Cybermen.
Slitheens, Daleks, The Master.
And so many others.
Switching companions.
From Susan Foreman,
through Katarina, Sarah Jane Smith, Rose Tyler,
to Clara Oswald.
This is the man that is always changing,
from one form to the next.
Twelve different faces.
Different faces of the same man.
The man who believes everybody has a purpose.
The man that will stop everything to save someone.
The man who lives on and on.
Forever.
But after all this,
he is still…
just a madman with a box.
