Falling

I fell,
and hard
not down some stairs
or even out of a tree
no I fell,
for my best friend
I fell for the way
he smiled
for the way he
made my heart skip a beat
for the way
he made me love myself
for the way
he looked at me
for the way
he did everything
but falling hurt
because I knew
nothing would ever change
the way he looked at me
as only his best friend.
