Summer
Hello Summer, hello blue
Open sky, empty of
Clouds, filled with birds.
Hello endless days,
Bright green trees,
And an orange afternoon sun,
Ending with a colourful death.
And hello to the nights that seem to go
On forever with no restraints
From sleep. Visions of happiness
Fill two halves of a soul,
Sheets cool and soft against skin.
Hello paint and pen
And burning creativity,
Shown on the canvas that is the sky
And moist hot grass
That passes quickly underfoot,
Hello for the first time,
Hello my sanctuary.
