Obituary
I read the obits
At a young age.
I'm researching
My chances of living.
Numbers become possibilities
And I circle the oldest.
I read of their lives
Their accomplishments.
I plan my own obituary
A conclusion of my life
Imagine all that I will have
And leave behind
I give myself a number of names
And schools and jobs
Of volunteer hours
And children of children.
Bury me with my obituary.
Give the poet her conclusion.
