Calling All of Me

It’s time to set you free

Don’t lurk in the darkness
Or remain veiled in the moonlight

Calling all of me
I found its time to be
Happy in this place
Where joy perishes

Calling all of me
Don’t listen to them mock
I see only me
Not a word that they shout

Calling all of me
I see you disappearing
I must be me
Before you are gone

Calling all of me
I see you standing there
Hiding is no longer key
For I am not me without you

Past
Present
And future
I call all of me.

The author's comments:

This piece shows how people, including myself, hide their true personality in order to fit in with the social norm. The person in this poem is trying to break free from this mold as they call part of themselves from the shadows.
