It's Okay
It’s okay to cry,
It’s okay to scream,
It’s okay to yell,
but don’t hurt yourself, baby girl.
When you miss him,
Find the song that fills your soul and play it until you fall asleep.
Drive around town and stop in places you’ve never been to with him.
When you miss him,
Bake a batch of cookies and eat them fresh from the oven.
Shower, scrubbing the ugly thoughts from your hair and washing his touch from your skin.
When you miss him,
Spend hours at the studio dancing through every emotion itching your bones.
Bleed thoughts into your journal in iambic pentameter.
When you miss him,
Buy yourself a cup of coffee and drink it at a table, being comfortably alone.
Take a walk in the cold air, allowing the cool breeze to remind you of your existence.
It’s okay to cry, and scream, and yell,
but don’t hurt yourself, baby girl.
