Ode to Books
Beautiful books
You are essential to life
Like humans need air to breathe
And bees need flowers to pollinate
You sit quietly on the shelf, making no sound
But when I lift your cover
The words jump out in screaming color
You promise an adventure
You promise an escape
You let me try on new personalities
Test drive the feeling of ruling the world
When I'm with you I can break free from reality
Flee normality
Nothing compares to how spectacular you are
Each story is one of a kind
Influencing me to be better
Teaching me greater things
I cherish your lessons
And learn from your mistakes
I know you will always be there, ready for me
Without you my world would be incomplete
Like a house without a roof
Or a lamp with no lightbulb
You never fail to amaze me
Beautiful books
