Braces
It was her first time and it was my first time
Her; a graduate that started this job today
Me; a terrified sophomore reluctantly getting braces
Two people forced to trust each other
You wouldn’t have known at first
With her tidy uniform that made her like the other professionals,
But then I knew when she shook over the dentist tools
And fumbled over the chemicals
Who was supposed to be more scared me or her?
The Dentist who has a life in her hands
Or the patient who’s life is in another’s hands
I don’t know
All I know is that my braces looked great
And she went on to another patient
