Dear Brother, Dear Sister
Drinking from hoses
On hot summer days
Changing out of church clothes
So we could play
Mommy might yell
When we tracked mud in the house
But we all just laughed
Like best friends
Those days are gone
Now you watch from your window
You stare at the backyard
Where you once played
With your brothers and sisters
The feelings settle in
Those days are over
Your best friends aren't here
The hose is broken
You haven't laughed in months
Now you hate mud
And mommy is too tired to yell
