Palette
Soon people will drift away
to different phases of life
as is normal and expected of human relationships,
limited as we are
in the breadth of our communication
and feelings,
choosing to let distance
in between unspoken thoughts
until words merely slide around
like oil and water,
never mixing into the palette
of nostalgia and creation.

This was written during a moment of contemplation about human relationships. It's a sad piece but at the same time I'd like to think that there is happiness. Even as people enter and leave our lives, we can still cherish what we learned, remember who they were, and continue to move forward.
