metamorphosis
A butterfly's wings can flutter up to 700
times per minute and it sounds
just like my heart beating at
a million miles an hour
whenever you're around
I think when we met you
placed a caterpillar in my chest
because it took months for
this exhilaration to grow;
Slowly, then blossoming suddenly
this butterfly unfolded within me
Because before my heart
took flight out love was not love
and your I love you's were
simply words but now
You speak affection through
the way you look at me or with the
tiny smile that plays on
your lips when you catch me
staring at you in pure admiration.
I constantly hear your laugh
ringing in my ears and on lonely
nights I can see you hunched
at my desk, writing and you are
so beautiful; I think if I
could love you any more my
heart would burst spilling
a thousand butterflies grown
from your touch.
