July 27, 2015
this summer is beating my bones
right down the shore
by the fires side
i stood steady as the stars
in the warmth
hearing the waves crash
like a perfect song
smoking my lungs
already echo stone
feeling high as the birds
near the moon
i grow steady as the morning
old as steel
and happy as the dogs
that howl at the break of dawn
