All I Know
All I know is the way the traffic hums along the second rate streets
and
And all I see I the glare of screen that envelops your face,
Swallowing it whole and spitting it out in pieces
And I know beyond these walls the heavens cast their gaze upon us all;
And one day I will know the feeling of heavy rain as a cocoon around my shoulders
And even as it slips across my skin I will not shudder
And the thunder that rolls in will beat in steady alignment with my heart
And my heartbeat will collide with the trail of the rain seeping from the sky
Dancing through the starry night
And the black ceiling that hovers above us will at last sit still
And I will know peace again
