I was a raindrop

hanging on the tip of a leaf

for dear life.

I leapt for you open mouth-

laughing, passing under me.

I basked in the delight

of your breath, crept

Under your soft uvula,

past your languorous tonsils,

Slid down your singing throat,

and found myself lying

upon your tender heart.

I let myself be sucked

into your arteries, and pumped

Molecule by molecule into your

oxygen-filled veins, feeding

Your cells with the nourishments

of the sky, from whence I came.

And after the dissipation throughout

the landscape of your wondrous body,

I am again gathered

in a single droplet.

I was a blood-drop

racing through your veins,

charged with life.

And then you let me out

through a cut on your finger,

Wiped me off on a Kleenex,

watched me turn brown,

And flushed me down the toilet.
