Suit of Armor
I walk in a suit
With a tie and dress shoes.
I wear it by day to hide
What waits for me at night.
I wear a suit like armor.
It protects my dignity.
Makes me look affluent,
When very little flows in.
People look at me in my suit.
I don’t see pity in their eyes.
My suit is a mask, a costume, and disguise.
I look refined with it on,
I feel like somebody again.
What would I do without my suit of armor?
