Sunlight on a Lake
What’s this I see?
a welcomed friend
bringer of gold
Are you who sets the water in flames?
You who opens the gateway to night
you whose marvelous displays
stand upon the watery platform
the striking orange rising and falling
a transformative mask
for this dark canvas
your dominating color envelopes
the ebbing blue
painting the sky with your own blossoms of violent red orange and pink
the lake is your mirror
the lake is my tangible sky
you the glorious farewell to the long day
slowly fade consumed by the violet night
